Valerie Health is an AI-native platform that serves as the front office for independent provider groups, automating patient/provider communication and healthcare workflows. The company is scaling at 7x year-over-year with 300% net revenue retention, backed by $39M in funding from top-tier investors including Redpoint Ventures and General Catalyst.
As Director of Agent Deployment, you will build and lead the team responsible for deploying AI agents to handle complex healthcare workflows. This is a core function that directly shapes the company's growth and operating leverage. You will own the complete delivery lifecycle—from customer discovery and workflow analysis through agent design, development, testing, launch, and ongoing optimization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and leading a high-performing team: hire exceptional talent, coach people through complex work, establish team structure and standards, and scale the function as the company grows.
- Translating customer needs into reliable AI agents: lead workflow discovery sessions, define agent behavior and scope, align customers on timelines and tradeoffs, and ensure clear communication throughout.
- Owning agent delivery end-to-end: guide the team through workflow design, code development, testing, and troubleshooting. Set high reliability standards and determine when Engineering support is needed.
- Expanding automation post-launch: analyze performance data to identify agent gaps, prioritize improvements, and reduce manual work while maintaining quality and customer trust.
- Driving cross-functional execution: align Engineering, Product, Customer Strategy, and Operations on priorities, resolve dependencies, and move quickly from decision to implementation.
- Making implementation repeatable: codify lessons from launches and optimization into reusable workflows, tests, tools, and practices that accelerate team velocity and improve agent performance consistently.
The role requires someone who can operate in ambiguity, translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and build systems that scale. You'll work directly with customers, the engineering team, and leadership to shape how Valerie deploys AI at scale in healthcare.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6–10+ years of relevant experience in consulting, strategy & operations, solutions engineering, technical implementation, analytics, finance, product, or related roles. Must include team leadership experience and hands-on experience at a high-growth startup.
- Demonstrated team leadership: have led teams through complex work, coached teammates, and maintained high performance standards. Ready to own hiring, development, and team scaling.
- Customer-facing judgment: ability to uncover requirements, explain technical concepts clearly, set realistic expectations, and earn customer trust.
- Hands-on technical judgment: can troubleshoot workflows using SQL, logs, and tests; ship reliable customer-specific code with AI coding tools; and know when to escalate to Engineering. Practical technical judgment is valued; formal Engineering experience is helpful but not required.
- Analytical rigor: get to root causes and use evidence to evaluate customer impact, urgency, effort, and long-term scalability.
- High-velocity execution: bring structure to ambiguous work, deliver across technical and non-technical teams, and learn new tools to improve results.
BONUS: experience deploying or improving AI agents at scale, top-tier consulting background, managing managers and developing new leaders, or familiarity with healthcare operations, EHRs, and healthcare integrations.
