Cambium is a growth-stage company modernizing the wood supply chain through a combination of physical operations and software. The company serves major customers including Amazon, Equinox, and Room & Board, and has been recognized by Fast Company as one of its Most Innovative Companies. You will own Cambium's accounting function as Director of Accounting, reporting to the VP Finance. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will both execute accounting work and lead an offshore accounting team. In your first six months, you will focus on cleanup and structuring of historical data that has been migrated from QuickBooks and Sage into NetSuite. You'll ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and supported, legacy data ties out correctly, and deferred revenue is properly structured. You will redesign the chart of accounts and segment structure across business units and revenue centers. You will own the month-end close across the parent company and acquired subsidiaries, targeting completion within 10 business days. You'll lead the accounting integration of each newly acquired company into NetSuite OneWorld, including intercompany transactions and consolidation. You will manage the offshore accounting team day-to-day, assigning work, reviewing quality, and maintaining high standards. Key responsibilities include: reconciling and cleaning historical balances; fixing deferred revenue and evaluating NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management; leading the offshore team; owning accounting policies and controls; maintaining audit readiness; owning the external auditor relationship; ensuring accuracy of inventory, WIP, COGS, and project costing; and partnering with Finance Operations and NetSuite teams. Within 12 months, success means: clean historical books with all reconciliations supported; reliable monthly close in under 10 business days with consistent coding; acquired entities integrated into NetSuite OneWorld with functioning consolidation; offshore team executing routine work correctly; and audit-ready books with documented policies and controls. Beyond 12 months, you'll drive toward a five-day close, lead clean audits, establish an acquisition playbook for 90-day integration, and build an in-house accounting team. REQUIREMENTS (MUST HAVES): - 6 to 10 years of accounting experience, including owning a month-end close end-to-end - Hands-on experience cleaning up or rebuilding messy books, ideally a QuickBooks or Sage migration into NetSuite - Experience managing accountants, including outsourced or offshore teams across time zones - Multi-entity accounting expertise: intercompany transactions, consolidation, and integrating acquired companies into existing charts of accounts - Inventory and COGS accounting at a company that moves physical product - Deferred revenue and revenue recognition experience for product or project businesses - Hands-on NetSuite experience across parent and subsidiary entities PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - CPA (active or previously held) - Experience leading or participating in a financial audit - Track record integrating acquired companies into existing accounting systems - Experience with NetSuite OneWorld or Advanced Revenue Management - Experience with Sage or Great Plains
