Oura is seeking a Director of Logistics Automation to lead a strategic transformation of the company's supply chain and fulfillment operations. As Oura scales from a hardware startup to a global health and wellness leader, the logistics function must evolve from manual, disconnected processes into an intelligent, data-driven, increasingly autonomous system capable of supporting millions of members worldwide.
In this role, you will define and execute a comprehensive logistics automation strategy spanning digital systems, physical automation, and cross-functional integration. You will partner closely with the Director of Logistics, Business Technology Services, Data & Analytics, Manufacturing, and contract manufacturers to architect a future where every product is tracked via high-fidelity digital twins and moved by precision-engineered automation.
Key responsibilities include:
Digital Automation & Connected Systems: Lead the definition of target digital architecture for logistics, integrating ERP, WMS, TMS, and 3PL carrier platforms through robust APIs and event-driven architectures. Develop real-time observability dashboards providing granular visibility into fulfillment lifecycle stages. Partner with technical teams to build reliable integrations and trusted data foundations for order, inventory, shipment, returns, and fulfillment decisions. Replace manual reconciliation and spreadsheet-based handoffs with robust, auditable, exception-driven workflows. Establish data ownership, master-data requirements, observability controls, and service-level expectations. Apply analytics, optimization, AI, and machine learning to improve decision quality and reduce manual intervention.
Physical Automation & Site Deployment: Design and oversee deployment of advanced automation systems including high-speed sortation, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), and robotic kitting cells. Direct implementation of machine vision systems for quality control and serial number capture. Evaluate and deploy conveyors, sortation, scanning, labeling, robotics, autonomous mobile systems, and ergonomic material-handling solutions. Translate business requirements into equipment specifications, process flows, controls requirements, and maintenance standards. Partner with site leaders and 3PLs to qualify, install, ramp, and sustain automation while protecting service levels. Use simulation, digital-twin concepts, and capacity models to test throughput and ROI before capital commitment.
Product, Manufacturing & Partner Integration: Drive "Design for Automation" initiatives across product engineering, influencing packaging dimensions to optimize robotic handling. Integrate manufacturing execution systems (MES) with downstream logistics platforms. Define readiness criteria and deployment gates through product development phases. Connect manufacturing data, logistics execution data, and customer outcomes to improve end-to-end traceability.
