ReversingLabs is seeking a Director of Global Sales Engineering & Field CTO to lead a dual mandate: build and scale the sales engineering function supporting a ~$40M book of business, and serve as the company's most credible technical voice to CISOs, product security leaders, and industry audiences.
You will report directly to the CRO and sit on the GTM leadership team. This is a player-coach role—you'll personally run complex technical demonstrations and lead strategic deals while building the operating system that allows the function to scale well beyond its current size.
Key Responsibilities:
**Lead and Grow the Team**: Hire, develop, and manage the global Sales Engineering team. Own career pathing, performance management, and skill assessment. Design the team's model for scale, including coverage, specialization, and capacity planning. Build training programs that close gaps in sales, product, and technical depth.
**Own the Technical Win**: Improve and codify the technical layer of the sales methodology (discovery, demo, evaluation, proof of value) to scale with rapid sales growth. Interpret customer requirements and translate them into tailored demonstrations and solution designs. Lead technical evaluation cycles to decisive wins. Own the transition from technical win to successful deployment, ensuring clean handoffs into onboarding and production. Refine internal processes for measurable performance and consistent customer experience.
**Be the Field CTO**: Represent ReversingLabs on stage, on panels, in webinars, press, and with analysts. Build executive-level technical trust with CISOs, CTOs, and product security leaders. Develop and defend competitive positioning with substance. Develop deep expertise in industry trends, regulatory pressure, and competitive offerings, making that expertise usable by the field team. Partner with Marketing on technical content, launches, and field programs that generate pipeline.
**Close the Loop with Product**: Act as the technical liaison between prospective customers and Product/Engineering teams. Collect, synthesize, and prioritize field feedback into roadmap influence. Provide timely input to Product Management, Marketing, and leadership on what is winning, losing, and why. Maintain deep expertise in all ReversingLabs offerings.
Success Metrics (Year One):
- First 30 days: Know products cold, meet every team member, engage with customers
- First 90 days: Written assessment of where technical cycles are lost, team capability gaps, and initial process improvements in flight
- First 6 months: Measurably more consistent evaluation and proof-of-value execution; defined technical-win-to-deployment handoff; visible in market as Field CTO
- First 12 months: Function scales without you in every deal; field feedback visibly shapes roadmap; technical win rate and evaluation cycle time improve
Travel: ~30–40% for customer engagement, field events, and industry conferences.
**Requirements**
Must Haves:
- 12+ years in technical, customer-facing roles (sales engineering, solution architecture, professional services, or technical customer success)
- 5+ years leading a team
- Built a technical customer-facing function from the ground up at a growth-stage company; written the playbook, not inherited one
- Player-coach mentality: current enough to run complex demos yourself, disciplined enough not to do your team's job for them
- Technical depth and breadth; comfortable deep-diving into hard problems and knowing when to step back for deal priorities
- Executive presence: credible moving from technical packet captures to board-level risk conversations
- Security domain fluency in software supply chain, malware analysis, threat intelligence, endpoint, SOC operations, OT/ICS, or adjacent discipline
- Carried responsibility for post-signature outcomes (implementation, integration, escalation); this shapes how you sell
- Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- AI-forward mindset: embrace AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, solve problems, and deliver better results; curious and willing to experiment and help others adopt new tools
Nice to Haves:
- Experience across both enterprise sales-led and product-led growth motions
- Public technical voice (conference speaking, published writing, press commentary, analyst relationships, community following)
- Professional services or consulting delivery background, including large-scale enterprise or federal environments
- Exposure to third-party risk, procurement, or compliance-driven buying processes
- Track record of influencing product roadmap from the field
- Comfort in fluid, fast-paced environments and navigating matrixed organizations
- Passion for problem-solving and roll-up-your-sleeves demeanor
