Stratus is a software platform for MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) contractors that digitizes and optimizes workflows from design through fabrication to installation. The company has proven product-market fit with a growing customer base and is now scaling to add AI capabilities and expand market reach.
As Director of Engineering, you will lead product-focused engineering teams building the next generation of Stratus capabilities, with a particular emphasis on integrating AI agents into fabrication workflows at scale—something not yet done in this industry. You will report to the CTO and peer with other Directors and Senior Directors across the engineering organization, while partnering closely with the Head of Product and GTM leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading engineering teams to deliver against the Stratus product roadmap, combining core platform improvements with new AI capabilities
- Shipping production AI features that solve real workflow problems for fabrication shops, not proof-of-concepts
- Building and strengthening your team while raising the delivery bar consistently
- Contributing to platform architecture decisions with engineering judgment informed by customer needs
- Balancing new AI initiatives with continued delivery to the existing, rapidly growing customer base
You will be among the first engineering leaders to deploy genuine AI agents into a fabrication workflow at scale. The role is fully remote with quarterly in-person leadership meetings and regular visits to customer shop floors to see your software in production environments. MEP industry experience is a strong plus but not required. This is an early-stage build where you will shape how the platform evolves.
