Motive is hiring a Director of Developer Platform & Experience to lead the company's shift toward AI-driven development. This is a hands-on leadership role owning Motive's internal developer ecosystem end-to-end: developer experience, infrastructure, build and CI/CD systems, testing frameworks, and the AI-driven development lifecycle (AI-DLC) tooling and governance. The core mandate is to make agentic development a governed, measured, everyday practice across Motive's engineering organization, which spans North America, Europe, and Asia, working across Rails monoliths, Go services, mobile, and embedded systems. Key responsibilities include: **AI-Driven Development Lifecycle**: Translate Motive's AI-development direction into a multi-year executable plan. Evaluate, select, and roll out AI developer tools (coding agents, code review, test generation, incident investigation, documentation). Build internal scaffolding—context, MCP servers, evaluations, guardrails—that makes these tools effective on real Motive codebases. Stand up rigorous LLM and agent evaluation practices with benchmarks, offline/online evals, quality and cost regression tracking, and defensible model/vendor selection. Own governance with Security, Legal, and Platform teams around acceptable use, code provenance, licensing, secrets, data handling, and audit trails. Define and report adoption and impact metrics. Drive organizational enablement and cultural shift. **Cloud-Based Agentic Infrastructure**: Build the platform that runs agentic development in the cloud—on-demand, reproducible, isolated workspaces where many agents work concurrently on real codebases, run real tests, and open real pull requests without engineer babysitting or security/cost compromise. This is a distributed-systems and platform problem, not a tooling procurement exercise. **Developer Experience & Infrastructure**: Optimize the inner loop, make the right path the easy path, and ensure build, CI/CD, and release systems are fast, reliable, and cost-aware at scale. Success is measured by whether engineers ship faster, with higher confidence, and with less friction quarter-over-quarter. This is a builder's leadership role requiring platform depth and excitement about hard distributed-systems problems.
