Veeam, the Data and AI Trust Company, is seeking a Director of Data Governance to lead a critical initiative around data quality, AI readiness, and organizational trust. The company operates a sophisticated data infrastructure spanning four source systems (v-Power, Marketo, NetSuite, Workday) flowing through a Databricks Lakehouse to certified outputs consumed by Tableau dashboards and AI agents.
In this role, you will own the execution of Veeam's federated data governance strategy—a pragmatic model combining central standards with distributed ownership. You'll run Databricks Unity Catalog as the technical backbone and Atlan as the business-facing catalog, building certified Bronze-to-Silver-to-Gold data pipelines domain by domain across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and HR.
Key responsibilities include: implementing continuous, agent-driven scoring to maintain live trust scores on certified data objects; standing up executive intelligence reporting that gives leadership real-time visibility into data trustworthiness; registering and governing AI agents that consume Veeam's data; and aligning diverse business domain owners on defined governance standards.
This is a builder and execution role for a deep subject matter expert with full autonomy to move fast and deliver results. You'll lead high-visibility initiatives, shape approaches to ambiguous problems, and influence organizational direction through the standards you establish. The strategy and mission are set; your job is to make certification, lineage, and continuous scoring a standing rhythm rather than a one-off exercise.
You should be curious by default, comfortable with ambiguity as AI tooling evolves rapidly, and personally accountable for data quality at every level—from source system to dashboard to agent output. Daily use of AI agents (Claude, Claude Code, or comparable tools) is expected, along with the ability to set guardrails for organizational use.
Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience; 7+ years in enterprise data governance, data management, or GTM; hands-on production experience running end-to-end data and AI governance programs; working knowledge of Databricks Unity Catalog and business-facing catalog layers like Atlan; demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders as an individual contributor without positional authority.
Bonus qualifications include: v-Power or CRM extension platform experience; change management expertise; AI asset governance depth (model registration, MCP services, agentic access control); Microsoft Purview experience; SOC 2 Type II audit experience; PE-backed or pre-IPO company background; data mesh or data product operating model familiarity; external contributions to data platform or governance communities.
