VAST Data is seeking a Director of Corporate Development & Special Projects to build and lead a new Corporate Development function from the ground up. This is a strategic role reporting to the executive team, responsible for driving VAST's growth through M&A, strategic investments, and special projects that expand the platform and market leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and scaling the Corporate Development function, establishing processes for deal sourcing and execution
- Proactively sourcing, evaluating, and executing strategic investments and M&A opportunities aligned with VAST's long-term vision
- Conducting deep market research and competitive analysis to inform corporate strategy
- Managing end-to-end deal processes including diligence, financial modeling, negotiation, and integration planning
- Maintaining and expanding relationships with the broader tech ecosystem (VCs, investment bankers, potential targets)
- Leading cross-functional special projects based on strategic priorities
- Conducting financial benchmarking against peers and industry to inform strategy and positioning
- Supporting Investor Relations activities including narrative crafting, materials development, and investor communications
- Developing close working relationships across the company
The ideal candidate brings a builder's mindset, exceptional business judgment, and a proven track record in strategic deal execution within high-growth tech. You should have 8+ years of experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, or VC/PE with significant focus on tech M&A. A bachelor's degree in a quantitative field is required; MBA preferred. You need exceptional financial modeling skills, proficiency with Excel, Google Workspace, and AI tools, with familiarity in Tableau, Salesforce, and NetSuite a plus. Outstanding communication and storytelling skills are essential for presenting to executives and investors.
