New Relic seeks a strategic, technically fluent Director of Competitive Intelligence to own the company's competitive intelligence program end-to-end. You will be the company's foremost expert on the observability, monitoring, and AIOps competitive landscape, translating competitive analysis into intelligence that sharpens positioning, accelerates win rates, and informs product and go-to-market strategy.
You will lead New Relic's global CI program, including competitor tracking, battlecards, competitive playbooks, and the CI platform powering enablement across Sales, Marketing, and Product. You'll develop and maintain in-depth, technically accurate coverage of key observability and AIOps competitors—product architecture, pricing, roadmap signals, and market positioning—packaged into actionable field resources.
You will oversee the win/loss program through customer and rep interviews, surfacing why New Relic wins and loses, and translating insights into win stories and recommendations for Sales and Product leadership. You'll serve as strategic advisor to Product Management, Product Marketing, Sales, and Analyst Relations, translating competitive intelligence into differentiated messaging across New Relic's observability platform (APM, Infrastructure, Logs, Digital Experience Monitoring, AIOps, AI Observability).
You'll deliver executive and field-facing readouts on CI program impact, quantifying competitive ARR and win rate improvements. You'll monitor competitor moves, funding, M&A, and category shifts using market intelligence tools. You'll scale agentic AI-enabled CI workflows and automation, integrating with Salesforce, Slack, and enablement tools to keep competitive content fresh and accessible. Finally, you'll act as an internal thought leader on the observability competitive landscape, briefing executives, sales leadership, and the board on market dynamics and competitive threats.
Required: 8+ years progressive CI experience (strong preference for observability, monitoring, AIOps, DevOps, or infrastructure/cloud software); Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent hands-on technical experience); 4+ years people management; 4+ years building and running CI programs at scale; track record of developing battlecards and playbooks that measurably move win rates; deep understanding of observability/AIOps competitive landscape; strong analytical rigor with market intelligence tools; excellent written and verbal communication; demonstrated cross-functional partnership ability; experience designing or deploying AI/agentic workflows for CI or GTM enablement.
