Sanity.io is a modern content operating system that treats content as data, enabling teams to maintain a single governed source of truth and adapt it across websites, apps, workflows, and AI agents. The company recently raised $85M in Series C funding and is backed by leading investors including GP Bullhound, ICONIQ Growth, and founders from Vercel, WP Engine, Twitter, and Netlify. Sanity's infrastructure is entering a critical growth phase. The company handles approximately 75,000 requests per second through Content Lake alone (4.5M requests per minute) and operates critical paths across CDN, edge, gateway, caching, object storage, and GCP infrastructure. The Director of Cloud Infrastructure will lead the platform foundations that enable Sanity's engineering velocity and scale. In this role, you will own cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, routing, observability, CI/CD, deployment paths, incident response, and production ownership standards. Key responsibilities include: - Setting infrastructure strategy for the next stage of scale with a clear roadmap across cloud infrastructure, reliability, deployment, observability, security, cost, and developer experience - Leading teams responsible for shared foundations: GCP projects and clusters, Kubernetes, networking, service discovery, routing, gateways, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability - Establishing clear boundaries between Platform (owning shared foundations) and SRE (enabling product teams) - Raising the reliability bar across production systems through dashboards, alert severity, paging standards, service ownership, and incident response - Creating clear deployment golden paths with production readiness checks, safe rollouts, and useful automation - Partnering with Product, Engineering, Security, Support, Sales, and Customer Success on infrastructure priorities: uptime, latency, scale, compliance, trust, and cost - Owning cloud cost discipline while maintaining business velocity - Shaping longer-term architecture for multi-region scale, disaster recovery, data residency, and compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI, HIPAA) - Hiring, coaching, and developing infrastructure leaders and engineers You have led Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, Cloud, or Developer Platform teams in scaling SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, API, data, or developer-tools companies. You have operated systems with high request volume, multi-region production, strict uptime expectations, large cloud bills, and customer-facing incidents. You are technically deep enough to debate architecture with senior engineers while practical enough to make decisive calls. You excel at splitting central platform ownership from product-team service ownership, improving on-call and reliability through systems and standards, and communicating clearly with executives, engineers, and customer-facing teams. You have managed managers or senior technical leads and know when to coach, set standards, or get directly involved.
