The Director, Business Planning leads Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) for the supply chain, working within cGMP and established SOPs to ensure product consistency, quality, and efficient resource utilization.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and continuously improve Sales & Operations Planning for the supply chain, managing monthly demand consensus, supply consensus, new product development consensus, and executive S&OP roll-up across Sales, Marketing, NPD, and Finance.
• Translate demand requirements by SKU into supply chain requirements for production planning, scheduling, distribution, and operations.
• Manage safety stock levels and lead-time assumptions to maintain world-class fill rates while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
• Track and report on key S&OP metrics, including forecast accuracy, and identify variances between financial plans and bottom-up demand forecasts.
• Prepare and present decks to senior leadership highlighting risks, opportunities, and resource requirements.
• Review raw material availability, on-hand inventories, and production activities to facilitate planning and scheduling of product manufacturing.
• Collaborate with Production Planning Manager and Master Scheduler to update ERP system planning and scheduling assumptions.
• Distribute production schedules and work orders with clarifications to departments.
• Create demand updates for rolling 12-month periods and make financial decisions for pre-mix demand based on analysis.
• Make sound financial decisions on large buyer and distributor sales orders.
• Support Master Scheduler in creating, managing, and communicating production schedules to ensure efficient operations.
• Compile production status reports including rates, progress, materials inventories, and customer information.
• Communicate with warehouse, QC Lab, QA, Document Control, Procurement, and manufacturing groups on material, packaging, component, and document flow.
• Maintain Back-Order and At-Risk Reports in collaboration with Master Scheduler and Production Planning Manager.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
• 5–10 years of manufacturing experience required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) and ability to utilize Thorne's computer systems.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
