Daybreak Health is seeking a Director of Business Operations to own workforce management for their largest revenue channel. This is a general-manager-level role with direct accountability for clinician capacity, retention, utilization, and credentialing throughput—ultimately driving revenue and gross margin outcomes. You will build and run the systems that ensure sufficient clinician supply, maximize session volume, and maintain healthy unit economics while scaling rapidly. The role requires working across Clinical, Recruiting and Credentialing, Operations, Finance, Product, and Engineering teams. You will manage stakeholders who do not report to you, present directly to executives, and have clear visibility into revenue and cost impact. Key responsibilities include: - Workforce management: clinician capacity planning, retention, utilization, and credentialing throughput - Gross margin and unit economics analysis, translating operational performance into financial impact - Performance analytics and root-cause investigation using operational and financial data - Cross-functional performance management: turning data and forecasts into clear recommendations for partner teams - Clinical review operations: workflows, throughput, SLAs, and dependencies (in partnership with Clinical leadership) - Continuous optimization of access, utilization, retention, cost efficiency, margin, and scalability Success metrics include scaling the workforce 4x in the first 12 months, hitting core KPIs (clinicians hired/onboarded, slots available, sessions attended, clinical outcomes), meeting revenue and gross margin targets, proactive capacity planning, strong clinician retention and utilization, early detection of performance issues with root causes and recovery plans, automation of manual workflows, and building trust with partner teams. Daybreak Health is a Series B company backed by Union Square Ventures, Lightspeed, Maven Ventures, and Y Combinator. The company provides virtual and onsite behavioral health care for K-12 school districts and health plans, with a mission to serve 25+ million youth over five years. REQUIREMENTS: - Workforce or capacity planning experience: forecasting supply/demand, managing distributed or contract workforces, or scaling service delivery teams (core skill) - Ownership of complex operational programs with direct accountability for measurable outcomes (revenue, gross margin, retention, utilization, cost) - Strong analytical fluency: investigate performance independently, spot trends and root causes, turn data into action - Business and financial acumen: understand how operational decisions impact revenue, unit economics, and gross margin - Ability to influence without authority; comfort with stakeholders who don't report to you and may not align on timeline - Self-directed prioritization across multiple workflows - Track record of converting messy, one-off work into documented, repeatable systems - Proactive use of AI as an operational tool for analysis, automation, and process improvement - Willingness to get hands-on: dashboards, case investigation, data reconciliation, lightweight fixes, process testing - Strong executive communication: translate complex operational findings into clear recommendations with tradeoffs NICE TO HAVE: - SQL, Google Apps Script, Looker or similar BI tools, workflow automation, or lightweight internal tool building - Experience in telehealth, behavioral health, K-12, health plan partnerships, or other operationally complex healthcare environments
