Saronic Technologies develops autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense and offshore operations. This Director of Business Development role is a senior, hands-on position focused on bringing Saronic's autonomous marine capabilities to offshore energy customers in the Gulf of America and international markets. You will own the complete commercial cycle: customer discovery, account strategy, pipeline development, and deal closure. Your responsibilities include building and prioritizing a focused market and account plan, leveraging deep industry relationships to access decision-makers (logistics leaders, marine managers, operations executives, procurement), conducting structured discovery to understand customer pain points and business impact, and developing quantified business cases validated by customers. You will translate customer needs into product capability requirements working closely with Saronic's technical and engineering teams, monitor customer evaluations against success criteria, provide structured feedback to the product team, maintain accurate CRM forecasting, and document repeatable account strategies for the broader team. This is an individual contributor role with executive-level scope and substantial autonomy within agreed commercial priorities. You will report to the Vice President, Commercial and work at Saronic's pace—demanding urgency, sustained effort, and relentless focus on moving the mission forward. Success is measured on four dimensions: access to budget owners, quality of validated customer insight, qualified pipeline creation and progression, and conversion into awards and revenue. The role is not a good fit if you want a defined territory, a finished product catalog, or a team to manage. You must be driven by Saronic's mission, set your own priorities, initiate action, and sustain momentum without waiting for direction. REQUIREMENTS: - 15+ years in offshore oil and gas business development, commercial leadership, logistics, or marine support, with a record of originating and winning complex, multi-stakeholder deals - Deep, current network among Gulf of America operators and offshore drilling contractors; demonstrated access to relevant decision-makers and a record of turning trusted relationships into commercial results - International business development capability with demonstrated success extending relationships and developing commercial opportunities across international offshore markets - Practical command of offshore operations, logistics, marine support, and understanding of service disruption costs - Discovery-led, consultative selling at senior levels; exceptional listening and questioning skills - Commercial and financial fluency (total cost of ownership, pricing, margins, contract structures) with strong executive communication and negotiation skills - Mission-driven, self-directed, with ability to set priorities, initiate action, and sustain momentum - Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into capability requirements and work with technical teams - Practical understanding of vendor qualification processes, HSE requirements, and technical approval processes - U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, green card holder, or protected asylee/refugee) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - MBA or relevant advanced degree - Experience with Gap Selling and Level 5 listening methodologies - Experience commercializing new marine technology or building new offshore service models
