Blackbird Health is a clinician-founded, clinician-operated virtual and in-person mental health services provider specializing in pediatric and adolescent behavioral health. Currently operating across Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, and Maryland with plans to expand into new markets in 2027, Blackbird takes a whole-child approach addressing how the brain, body, and behavior interact to address root causes of mental health challenges.
As Director of Behavioral Health, you will lead a pivotal role overseeing the administrative and clinical operations of Blackbird's expanding therapy teams across multiple states. Reporting to Clinical Leadership, you will manage regional clinical managers and a multi-state team of W2 and 1099 psychotherapists (LPC, LCSW, LMFTs), providing regular 1:1 performance coaching, group supervision, and clinical mentoring. This is a 100% remote position.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and support remote clinical teams across multiple states, managing regional clinical managers and therapists with regular performance coaching, group supervision, and clinical mentoring
• Drive integrated and outcome-based care by collaborating with Medical Services and Clinical Leadership to establish evidence-based treatment protocols, standardize clinical documentation, and measure client quality-of-life improvements
• Optimize access and retention by partnering with Clinical Managers and Talent Acquisition to support therapist recruitment, streamline onboarding, and optimize schedule capacity to meet caseload goals without clinician burnout
• Maintain quality and regulatory standards by overseeing continuous quality improvement initiatives and ensuring all clinical workflows comply with state regulations across active markets
• Build scalable clinical protocols and foster an environment where clinicians thrive
You will excel at cross-functional collaboration, partnering across Clinical Operations, Talent Acquisition, IT, and Quality. You are data-driven, comfortable using outcome measures, productivity benchmarks, and scheduling metrics to support clinicians and optimize patient access. You maintain strong understanding of state behavioral health regulatory requirements, clinical protocols, and quality improvement frameworks.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or related field
• Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania LCSW license with ability to provide clinical supervision
• 5+ years of progressive clinical leadership experience (Manager, Associate Director, or Director level) in a behavioral health setting
• Proven track record managing managers: direct experience supervising, coaching, and developing clinical site managers and supervisors (not just direct-care clinicians)
• Direct clinical background with dedicated focus on pediatric, adolescent, and family mental health
• Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and retain multi-site or remote therapist teams in a growing environment
NICE TO HAVE:
• Dual licensure across multiple Blackbird active markets (PA, VA, NJ, MD)
• Experience leading hybrid operations (balancing remote telehealth and on-the-ground clinic sites)
• Background developing formal clinical onboarding frameworks and continuing education tracks
