Lumilens is a Series B photonics company developing high-speed optical transceivers purpose-built for AI infrastructure and high-performance computing. We are seeking an experienced DFM (Design for Manufacturing) Engineer to serve as the primary engineering interface between our hardware design teams, package manufacturing teams, and global suppliers. In this role, you will lead DFM and DFR (Design for Reliability) efforts across our optical transceiver manufacturing processes, including SMT, die attach, wire bonding, flip chip, TCB bonding, underfill, FAU active alignment, mechanical assembly, and reliability testing. You will conduct capability assessments and risk analysis for each process, machine, and material used in production. You will engage with substrate design, optical design, chip design, production line, NPI line, and component/material suppliers during early development phases to provide DFM recommendations based on different proof-of-concept designs. This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in transceiver assembly processes, packaging materials, and manufacturing equipment. You will collect data, prepare summaries, and support cross-functional decision-making on time-critical manufacturing challenges. The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge in materials, chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or optical engineering with a passion for manufacturing process excellence and global-scale execution. You must have solid hands-on experience in transceiver assembly, be very familiar with various packaging materials and equipment, and possess strong data review, reporting, and communication skills.
