DEFCON AI is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to build and operate the delivery platform for a new AI-enabled program in a government cloud environment (AWS GovCloud, IL-5). This is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines architecture decisions with hands-on implementation.
You will own the CI/CD pipeline end-to-end, including build, test, static and dynamic security analysis, software composition analysis, container and infrastructure-as-code scanning, SBOM generation, and gated promotion to production. You'll establish and operate development, test, and production environments in AWS GovCloud at IL-5, designing for zero-downtime deployment and rehearsed rollback.
Key responsibilities include: architecting the delivery platform (account structure, network paths, identity integration, container strategy, hardened base images); implementing security controls from day one with continuous evidence generation from the pipeline; owning the security artifact package (System Security Plans, SBOMs, STIG/SCAP results, audit trails); serving as the engineering counterpart to the customer's security and accreditation staff; and managing the release cadence across commercial and government timelines.
You will drive the initial platform deployment into the government IL-5 environment as the program's first contract deliverable, building and proving the pipeline and infrastructure-as-code on commercial cloud first using portable templates. You'll track government-side prerequisites including account provisioning, network paths, certificates, approved service lists, and scanning-tool approvals.
As the program ramps, you will direct a small group of platform, cloud, and cyber engineers. This role requires immediate availability and the ability to move quickly against fixed delivery dates. The position is fully remote with occasional travel (up to 25%) to DEFCON AI HQ, customer sites, and vendor facilities.
