HackerRank is seeking a DevOps Engineer II to join its high-performing DevOps team responsible for evolving cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability frameworks. You will have autonomy to design, build, and optimize infrastructure systems while enabling developer productivity at scale.
Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines across development to production environments, automating infrastructure using Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes (EKS) to ensure scalability and reproducibility. You will lead and evangelize DevOps best practices across engineering teams, focusing on CI/CD hygiene, observability, and cost-efficient architectures. The role involves implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems using tools like OpsGenie, New Relic, and ELK.
You will optimize performance and utilization of key systems such as Redis, RDS, Redshift, ElasticSearch, and Kafka, while partnering with security and platform teams to ensure compliance, resilience, and threat protection across cloud environments. Additionally, you'll contribute to cloud cost optimization initiatives and infrastructure efficiency projects.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering roles. You need deep expertise with AWS (including EKS, EC2, S3, SQS, and IAM), strong experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux (Ubuntu), and hands-on scripting or coding skills in Python or Java. A solid grasp of monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning principles is essential, along with strong collaboration skills across developer, QA, and leadership teams.
Preferred qualifications include experience with ArgoCD, Jenkins, or other CI/CD orchestration tools, background in security engineering or threat modeling, knowledge of observability frameworks and modern APM tools, proven track record in cost optimization for high-traffic systems, and experience with multi-cloud or hybrid environments. The ideal candidate brings a builder's mindset, passion for reliability and scalability, enjoys owning systems end-to-end, and balances technical depth with empathy for developer experience.
