As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in evolving Sardine's infrastructure and platform tooling to support a rapidly growing engineering team. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you'll drive key initiatives across deployment, observability, developer productivity, and cloud cost management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and evolving the DevOps and platform engineering function, from build and deployment pipelines to monitoring, infrastructure as code, and cost optimization
- Designing and maintaining secure, scalable CI/CD pipelines that support rapid product iterations without sacrificing stability
- Improving observability via Datadog, GCP, and custom dashboards with a focus on FinOps outcomes
- Implementing and maintaining FinOps governance, including showback and chargeback models to drive cost accountability
- Enabling developer productivity through internal tooling, reusable modules, and simplified infrastructure
- Defining and measuring SLOs to establish standards for system health and reliability
- Serving as a FinOps thought leader, collaborating with Product and Engineering on cost-effective architectural patterns
- Shaping engineering culture, DevOps best practices, and influencing the long-term DevOps roadmap
- Working cross-functionally with product engineering, security, finance, and other teams
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or software engineering roles, ideally in high-growth startups
- Proficiency in Python or Go with strong software engineering fundamentals
- Proven ownership of production infrastructure and platform tooling with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Experience designing and implementing secure, robust infrastructure in regulated environments
- Deep experience with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm, and Terraform
- Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or other major cloud providers, with focus on cloud cost management
- Hands-on experience with FinOps tooling (Kubecost, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Cloud Billing, DoIT Cloud Intelligence) or custom tooling
- Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines and internal developer tooling
- Hands-on experience with observability tools like Prometheus or Datadog and on-call rotation participation
