Salary: USD 113,000 - 149,000 / annual

Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Development Test Engineer to join its Costa Mesa, California team. The role focuses on executing comprehensive hardware testing on advanced aerospace systems including drones, missiles, and spaceflight hardware. Key responsibilities include leading test campaigns from conception through execution—developing test plans, activating systems, conducting operations, reviewing data, and designing/fabricating test equipment. You will generate detailed work instructions to guide technicians in fabricating and integrating test articles and specialized equipment. The position requires hands-on operation and troubleshooting of data acquisition systems, control systems, wiring, instrumentation, thermal chambers, electrodynamic shakers, and fluid power systems. A significant aspect of the role involves automating repetitive test operations to enhance efficiency and safety across testing protocols. You'll collaborate closely with design engineers to diagnose and resolve system anomalies while maintaining rigorous safety standards throughout all testing activities. Required qualifications include a BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering discipline, plus 2+ years of professional experience in a related engineering field. You must demonstrate high competence with engineering first principles, experience in hardware automation and software-hardware integration, and participation in immersive interdisciplinary technical projects. US Security Clearance eligibility is mandatory. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and lifting/carrying equipment up to 25 lbs. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of hazardous/pressurized systems (cryogenics, hydraulics, jet fuels, energy storage), familiarity with instrumentation components (accelerometers, load cells, thermocouples, pressure transducers, strain gauges), proficiency in coding languages (Python, Matlab), experience with 3D modeling and PLM software (Siemens NX, Teamcenter), and familiarity with industry standards (MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, NASA GEVS).
