Binance is seeking a Development Lead to define and drive long-term backend architecture strategy aligned with business goals. In this role, you will oversee system design across multiple services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across the organization. You will establish architectural standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices, and lead technical due diligence and risk assessment for major engineering decisions.
Key responsibilities include driving platform modernization initiatives and technical debt reduction, championing observability and performance engineering, and fostering operational excellence. You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend architects and senior engineers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning. You will also drive hiring and onboarding for the backend architecture team, coordinate cross-team technical initiatives, and resolve architectural conflicts while fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years in a lead or principal role
- Proven track record designing and scaling distributed systems in production
- Strong experience leading and mentoring engineering teams
- Deep expertise in backend languages (Java, Go, Python, Node.js, or similar)
- Extensive knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, and API design
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern infrastructure practices
- Strong understanding of database design, caching, messaging, and high-concurrency systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
