Chalk is a production AI platform that combines feature serving, model serving, and evaluation infrastructure for machine learning applications. The company recently raised a $50M Series A and serves leading enterprises in fraud detection, identity verification, and clean energy optimization.
This is a senior, hands-on Developer Relations role focused on helping AI engineers, ML engineers, and developers discover and adopt Chalk. You will own the entire developer funnel from awareness through first deployment, building technical credibility and community around the platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build with every Chalk product and create demos, sample applications, starter repositories, and walkthroughs that engineers can clone and run immediately
- Own the developer funnel metrics: track signup incentives, activation, and retention
- Produce technical video content (demos, build-alongs, launch videos, short clips) from script through final edit
- Build and nurture Chalk's developer community through in-office hackathons, conference presence, and community channels (Discord, Reddit, GitHub)
- Attend developer meetups and conferences to understand what engineers are building and gather feedback
- Define the content and community roadmap for developer relations and establish success metrics
- Create technical educational content: workshops, deep-dive explainers on inference, GPUs, and agents
- Partner with product, engineering, and documentation teams to ensure launches ship with working examples and smooth onboarding
- Collaborate with product marketing, sales, and forward-deployed engineers to shape how launches land with developers
- Grow audience presence on X, LinkedIn, YouTube, GitHub, Reddit, and Discord
- Serve as a strong customer advocate inside Chalk, feeding market insights back to product and engineering teams
Requirements:
- 7+ years as an AI engineer, ML engineer, or developer, with meaningful time in developer relations or technical education
- Established following: engineers actively read your posts and watch your videos
- Portfolio of technical content, especially video and live demos (links required)
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML or agent infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with modern developer workflows: Git-driven CI/CD, CLIs, notebook-to-production, coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor)
- Demonstrated success growing a self-serve developer product with measurable signup and activation metrics
- Strong technical taste and ability to defend opinions on developer content quality
- Track record of meaningfully influencing company product and roadmap through field insights
- Preference for hands-on execution over management: you write code, record videos, and run demos yourself
Bonus qualifications (optional):
- DevRel experience at a developer infrastructure company from early stage through scale
- Rust or C++ proficiency
- Experience serving models on GPUs or running agents in sandboxes
- Track record running developer credits or incentive programs with strong retention
- Experience converting bottom-up adoption into enterprise deals
- Personal YouTube channel or newsletter
