SigNoz is a YC-backed, open-source observability platform built on OpenTelemetry that unifies logs, metrics, and traces. The company is seeking a Developer Relations Engineer to be the face of SigNoz in the Bay Area, driving community engagement, customer storytelling, and technical advocacy. In this role, you will own four key areas: **Customer Stories & Case Studies**: Identify Bay Area customers with compelling narratives—teams that migrated from incumbent tools, scaled to massive event volumes, or debug AI agents in production. You'll visit customers, conduct technical interviews, film on-site case studies and videos, and transform these relationships into references and sales enablement assets. **Talks, Meetups & Events**: Speak regularly at Bay Area meetups focused on OpenTelemetry, cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes, AI engineering, SRE, and platform engineering. Host high-quality, intimate events such as engineering dinners, roundtables, and SigNoz-specific meetups. Represent SigNoz at major conferences like KubeCon and SRECON through talks, booths, or side events. **Webinars & Live Content**: Host and present webinars with customers and SigNoz engineers covering deep dives, migrations, and live debugging sessions. The India team handles logistics and promotion; you ensure the content is worth attending. Write or record technical content when a first-hand voice adds value. **Sales Collaboration**: Join Account Executives and Forward Deployed Engineers on customer visits when technical talks or workshops will help close deals. Bring customer and community feedback back to product and marketing teams. The role starts hands-on—you plan your own calendar, run events, and give talks yourself. As the motion matures and produces consistent stories, community engagement, and pipeline, you'll build and lead a small US DevRel and field team. **Success Milestones**: - 30 days: Running SigNoz on a real app, mapped Bay Area meetups, first customer story published. - 90 days: Three published customer stories, four+ meetup talks, first SigNoz dinner/meetup hosted, two+ webinars delivered. - 12 months: Monthly customer stories and events; Bay Area infra and AI engineers know SigNoz through your work; sales can attribute deals to your events and stories. **Requirements**: - 3+ years as a software engineer, SRE, platform engineer, solutions engineer, or developer advocate (DevRel title not required). - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. - Demonstrated public proof of technical communication: conference/meetup talk, blog post, popular open-source project, organized meetup, or customer-facing technical work. - Comfortable on camera and explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences. - Understanding of production systems: observability, OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, or AI infrastructure. Ability to run demos, answer hard questions, and write code when needed (expertise not required). - Self-directed; builds own plan and calendar, follows up independently, measures results. - Enjoys meeting people and returns from events with names, follow-ups, and story ideas. - Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area; able to travel ~20% of the time. **Bonus**: - Conference or meetup speaking experience. - Organized or grown a meetup or developer community. - Prior DevRel experience at developer-tools or infrastructure startups. - Open-source contributions. - Already embedded in Bay Area AI engineering scene.
