1Password is seeking an Intermediate Software Developer to join the Authorization team, which builds foundational systems determining access control across the platform. The team owns Unified Authorization, cross-product authorization APIs, and supporting services, partnering with Identity Services, Authentication, and Trust Platforms.
In this role, you'll take ownership of small-to-medium sized projects, contribute high-quality code, and work closely with teammates to move work from planning through release and support. You'll help simplify authorization for developers, strengthen access controls for customers, and shape how 1Password governs access as its product ecosystem grows.
Key responsibilities include building and shipping new features and product improvements within the team's codebase, owning delivery of scoped projects with minimal oversight, participating in the full development lifecycle (planning, implementation, testing, release, post-launch support), writing maintainable and well-tested code, documenting work clearly, providing thoughtful code reviews, and collaborating with customer support to investigate issues and prioritize feedback.
Required qualifications: Proficiency in Go and solid working knowledge of tools needed to complete tasks independently; experience building or working with authorization or identity systems with understanding of access control and permissions; comfort navigating existing codebases and proposing improvements; quality mindset with care for testing, maintainability, and clarity; strong communication skills; and collaborative approach.
Bonus experience includes supporting production systems and on-call rotations, and familiarity with improving developer workflows (tooling, CI/CD, testing, documentation).
