Ambrook is a Series A fintech startup rebuilding financial infrastructure for American family-run businesses—farms, ranches, and independent operators. The company helps these businesses become more profitable and resilient by replacing legacy systems with modern tools for accounting, banking, and spending.
You'll own the design system end-to-end, from component library and interaction patterns to frontend infrastructure. This is a senior individual contributor role where you'll drive technical decisions and raise the bar for craft across the product.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and evolve the component library, design tokens, and interaction patterns as production infrastructure supporting web and mobile
- Drive adoption of the design system across the product team; manage breaking changes, deprecations, and migrations at scale
- Own frontend performance as a feature: bundle size, render performance, accessibility, and the tooling/guardrails that prevent regression
- Write codemods, migration scripts, and agentic workflows that help the team adopt the system faster without sacrificing quality
What you bring:
- Deep frontend engineering expertise: clean, performant TypeScript and React; strong grasp of data structures, async programming, and modern build tooling
- Production experience owning or leading a design system or shared component library; familiarity with versioning, breaking changes, migrations at scale, and team adoption challenges
- Treat frontend performance and accessibility as engineering problems; can profile slow renders, optimize bundles, and implement guardrails
- Use coding agents as a core part of your workflow for migrations and adoption work
- Strong design instincts; can spot UI issues and hold a high bar for quality, even if you spend most time in code
- Curiosity about and empathy for the agricultural/independent business domain
- Portfolio or shipped work (systems, tooling, open source) that demonstrates engineering skill and craft
Ambrook is backed by Thrive Capital, Dylan Field, and Homebrew. You'll join a tight, talented design and engineering team working at the intersection of American industry, climate, and the economy.
