Monta powers the EV charging ecosystem with 300,000+ monthly users and millions of charge sessions. The company is looking for a Design System Engineer to establish and evolve a comprehensive design system that makes great UI the default across the organization. In this role, you will own the design system end-to-end, spanning from semantic tokens and primitives through complex patterns and production-ready components. You'll set the craft bar across typography, spacing, layout, density, motion, states, responsiveness, and accessibility—then encode it so the entire team hits it by default. Key responsibilities include: - Building a flexible, composable design system that serves designers, engineers, and AI coding agents - Designing and building product experiences yourself, moving between Figma, prototypes, and production code - Defining how AI agents understand and use Monta's components, patterns, and constraints for on-brand generated UI - Owning the theming architecture to support Monta and white-label brands cleanly - Automating quality checks for token usage, accessibility, and visual regression - Partnering with designers and engineers on real product work to identify and systematize recurring patterns - Maintaining clear documentation, Storybook, design assets, and contribution workflows You are a production-level frontend engineer fluent in React, TypeScript, and modern CSS with exceptional UI craft. You have built or evolved a design system, component library, or similar shared infrastructure. You're comfortable with complex B2B interfaces (tables, filters, states, workflows) and treat accessibility as a testable bar (WCAG 2.2 AA). You move fluidly between design and code, think in systems rather than screens, and are curious about how AI changes product development. The stack includes React, TypeScript, Tailwind, shadcn, Radix, and Base UI.
