Salary: USD 172,000 - 216,000 / annual
Archer is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. This Design Engineer role focuses on turboshaft integration—a critical subsystem for hybrid-electric propulsion.
You will own the end-to-end integration of the turboshaft into the aircraft platform. This includes managing mechanical interfaces between the turboshaft and airframe, ensuring smooth operation across all operating conditions, and overseeing integration of fuel, oil, exhaust, thermal, and auxiliary systems. You will define pass criteria and testing conditions for performance verification, and optimize the installation for mass, performance, maintainability, and safety.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep systems-integration expertise. You'll work cross-functionally with propulsion, structures, avionics, and manufacturing teams to solve complex integration challenges specific to hybrid-electric aircraft. The role demands strong problem-solving, technical communication, and the ability to lead initiatives independently.
Required qualifications: BS/MS/PhD in engineering or related field; 8+ years in complex systems integration; proficiency with Siemens NX; systematic problem-solving and multidisciplinary communication skills; self-motivation and ability to lead technical work.
Desirable experience includes turboshaft system integration, turbogenerator design, MATLAB/Simulink for propulsion modeling, computational fluid dynamics, hybrid-electric or eVTOL aircraft background, FAA/EASA certification familiarity, and simulation validation methods.
