Venus Aerospace seeks a Deputy Program Manager for Propulsion Development to lead complex aerospace and defense programs from concept through deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure alignment between Venus Aerospace's business plan and technology roadmap
- Manage program execution across cost, schedule, and technical performance from design through manufacturing, integration, test, and deployment
- Deconflict resources and set priorities across the program
- Translate mission needs into product requirements in close collaboration with engineering teams
- Guide design reviews and manage technical or contractual changes
- Work with manufacturing to ensure designs are producible and supply chains support timelines
- Coordinate with test teams to ensure experiments meet exit criteria and achieve product performance
- Lead program reviews and present technical and schedule briefings to customer stakeholders
- Negotiate requirements and maintain strong customer relationships
- Identify program risks early, develop mitigation plans, and maintain schedule fidelity under aggressive timelines
- Lead proposal efforts and contract negotiations, ensuring technical feasibility, cost effectiveness, and compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements
This role requires deep expertise in government contracting, systems engineering, and aerospace program management. You will operate at the intersection of technical leadership, customer engagement, and organizational strategy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 15+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or national security programs
- 5+ years of experience as a Program Manager in aerospace
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills, including preparation of CDRLs and technical data packages
- Proven track record managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering programs to cost and schedule
- U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- ITAR compliance: must be U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible for Department of State authorization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with USG programs, acquisitions, and operational concepts
- Understanding of U.S. Government acquisition processes, contracting, and operational concepts
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping, OTA contracts, and accelerated development environments
