Avoca is a Series B AI startup ($1B valuation, $125M raised) transforming home service customer engagement through AI-powered conversational agents. The company has grown 10x in 2025 and now operates with 130+ employees across NYC and Santa Barbara. As a Deployment Engineer, you'll embed directly with customers to understand their operations, design tailored AI solutions, and deploy systems that deliver immediate impact. You'll take ownership of deployments, integrations, and operational support of Avoca's voice agent products in live customer environments, operating with high autonomy in complex, high-stakes situations. Key responsibilities include: - Embedding with customers to understand operations and deliver working AI solutions from day one - Deploying, integrating, and maintaining voice agent products within complex customer infrastructure - Building and maintaining infrastructure behind conversational AI: APIs, integrations, monitoring, and feedback loops - Diagnosing production issues and performing deep root-cause analysis across distributed systems, APIs, and LLM-powered workflows - Translating business requirements into technical architectures and deployment plans - Identifying patterns across deployments and feeding insights back into the product roadmap - Monitoring and optimizing product performance in production with LLMs and distributed systems - Communicating complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Documenting solutions, best practices, and troubleshooting processes Required qualifications: - 2+ years of software engineering experience, preferably backend or systems-focused - Proficiency in Python (TypeScript/JavaScript a plus) - Hands-on experience with microservices architectures, APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, networking, and distributed systems - Familiarity with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) - Experience diagnosing and debugging production systems and integration environments - Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical, customer-facing stakeholders - Ability to work remotely while collaborating with a high-performing team across US time zones Preferred experience includes LLMs, prompt engineering, vector databases, AI agent frameworks, and customer-facing technical work.
