Arondite is a defence technology company building foundational software and AI to power autonomous systems. As a Deployed Software Engineer based in Oslo, you will be at the intersection of engineering, deployment, and customer success—working directly with Norwegian customers and NATO-aligned partners to implement Arondite's products in real-world operational settings.
Your primary responsibilities include traveling to customer sites, test facilities, and field environments to understand operational use cases firsthand. You will deploy Arondite's products into customer environments, adapting them to real-world technical constraints, and write secure, production-quality software in support of fielded deployments. A key focus for the Norway role is interoperability: connecting heterogeneous autonomous platforms, sensors, and software into a coherent operational picture, leveraging the UK-Norway Lunna House Agreement and NATO integration frameworks.
You will interface directly with autonomous systems, robotics platforms, sensors, and legacy systems in live test or exercise settings. You'll work through integration challenges involving Norwegian, UK, and NATO-aligned systems, collaborating with users to refine implementations and maximize mission value. Critically, you will feed product insights back to the core engineering team, ensuring that real deployment learning shapes the platform's evolution.
Your technical work spans a varied stack—deployment, integration, and field engineering problems. You'll partner with colleagues across software, AI/ML, networking, product, and strategy to solve hard customer problems quickly. The role offers significant autonomy from day one and opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities as the Norwegian operation scales.
Required qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience), strong programming skills in server-side languages (C++, Java, Rust, Python) or front-end development (TypeScript/JavaScript with Angular/React), and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly in ambiguous, real-world environments. You must have strong communication skills, confidence working directly with customer stakeholders, and willingness to travel frequently and spend meaningful time on-site. Good engineering judgment around reliability, maintainability, and secure development practices is essential.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with embedded or resource-constrained devices, legacy system integration, SQL databases (PostgreSQL), machine learning in deployed settings, hardware debugging outside standard office environments, distributed systems and networking in difficult operating conditions, and experience supporting demonstrations, trials, or operational technology rollouts.
