Arondite is a defence technology company building foundational software and AI to power autonomous systems. As a Deployed Software Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing Arondite's technology directly with customers to solve real-world problems in demanding environments.
You will be based in Ottawa, positioned to work closely with the Department of National Defence (DND), Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), and federal partners. This role is central to building Arondite's deployed capability in Canada, where trusted relationships and local context are critical.
Key responsibilities include traveling to customer sites across Canada and internationally to meet users and understand their use cases; deploying products into customer environments; interfacing with and testing autonomous and robotic systems in the field; integrating with unfamiliar platforms, data sources and operational systems; iterating with customers to refine implementations; and collecting field insights to inform core product development.
You will write secure, robust code adhering to secure coding standards and internal security policies. You'll work independently, handle ambiguity, and represent Arondite credibly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaboration with other deployed engineers across AI/ML, networking, and robotics is essential.
The role offers significant autonomy from day one and opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities as the Canadian team grows. You should be comfortable with fast-moving environments where requirements evolve quickly, and confident engaging with complex technical systems to solve practical integration problems.
Required qualifications: degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical/scientific field; strong core programming skills in server-side languages (C++, Java, Rust, Python) or front-end development (TypeScript/JavaScript with Angular/React); strong customer-facing communication skills; willingness to travel and work on-site with customers; ability to work effectively in fast-moving environments; high level of ownership and autonomous operation.
Nice-to-have skills include embedded/resource-constrained device experience, legacy systems familiarity, SQL databases (PostgreSQL), machine learning applications, hardware passion, and familiarity with defence/public-sector regulated delivery environments.
