GitLab is seeking a Demo Architect for the EMEA region to support the field's demo, workshop, and trial experiences. This role reports to the Senior Director of the Solutions Architecture Center of Excellence and works closely with a small, globally distributed team. You will build and maintain tools, applications, and workflows that enable hands-on customer experiences across GitLab.com, demo instances, and internal test environments. Key responsibilities include: - Design and develop software, systems, and internal tools that support technical users and business teams, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and documentation. - Expand the Demo Architect Portal to improve automation, self-service capabilities, and scalability for field teams and partners. - Provision and manage infrastructure supporting demos, workshops, trials, and internal environments. - Collaborate cross-functionally with Solutions Architects, Account Executives, Customer Success, Marketing, Revenue Operations, UX, and Engineering teams to understand needs and deliver practical solutions. - Document go-to-market workflows and automate time-consuming manual steps. - Create technical workshop assets and enablement content for pre-sales and technical selling. - Advise on sales opportunities requiring specialized technical demo support or custom solutions. - Improve the presenter experience by reducing manual setup work and streamlining demo workflows. - Support internal teams relying on demo or test infrastructure, ensuring availability and utility. - Troubleshoot urgent demo and workshop environment issues under pressure, communicating status clearly to stakeholders. - Operate independently in a remote, asynchronous environment with willingness to travel periodically for team offsites and in-person planning sessions. This role uniquely blends software engineering, infrastructure work, and customer-facing collaboration. You'll work like an engineer while partnering with field teams to ensure solutions are practical, usable, and aligned to how GitLab sells. REQUIREMENTS: - Experience building software, systems, or internal tools that support technical users or business teams. - Ability to deliver production-grade software and automation with attention to reliability, maintainability, and documentation. - Ability to work across application development and infrastructure, with comfort navigating provisioning, automation, and service workflows. - Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools to shorten investigation time when issues arise. - Comfort communicating and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across Sales, Solutions Architecture, Customer Success, Marketing, UX, and Engineering. - Understanding of how to design and iterate on solutions for usability and repeatability, recognizing that end users may be sellers or Solutions Architects. - Ability to operate independently in a remote, asynchronous environment. - Exposure to technical demos, workshops, trials, or enablement assets, and/or interest in learning the pre-sales context. Transferable experience from software engineering, site reliability engineering, systems engineering, solutions architecture, or similar technical paths is valued.
