Salary: USD 140,000 - 180,000 / annual

Applied Intuition is a $15B-valued AI company (founded 2017) powering physical intelligence for autonomous vehicles and defense systems. As a Defense Software Engineer, you'll work in small, high-ownership teams integrating Applied Intuition's vehicle intelligence platforms, Vehicle OS, and autonomy stacks with U.S. Department of Defense systems in real-world operational environments. You'll serve as the technical bridge between the company's commercial technology and defense/government customers, tackling end-to-end project execution from concept through deployment. Key responsibilities include: - Direct engagement with defense and government customers to deploy and operationalize vehicle intelligence products in military environments - Software engineering, operating system configuration, system deployment, and hardware integration across complex systems - Designing scalable architectural solutions for customer integration and project execution - Collaborating with internal engineering, product, and customer teams to ensure mission success - Full ownership of technical outcomes and driving projects to completion in ambiguous, rapidly evolving operational contexts You'll leverage the company's robust commercial technology stack to deliver capabilities that traditional defense contractors take years to develop, working on problems spanning core software engineering through hardware integration. Required qualifications: - 3+ years professional software engineering experience - Strong background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering - Proficiency in C++, Python, or similar languages - Broad technical experience across software, operating systems, and hardware - Proven ability to integrate and deploy complex systems - Exceptional problem-solving and independent innovation in ambiguous environments - Excellent communication and customer-focused mindset - U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for Secret security clearance Applied Intuition expects in-office work (5 days/week) with flexibility for occasional remote work.
