Distro is seeking a Database Administrator to support and maintain all aspects of database systems with deep technical expertise in SQL Server, database performance optimization, and high availability solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure high performance and uptime of all database systems
• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases to support business applications
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and system configuration adjustments
• Design and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Manage database security protocols, including data encryption, authentication, and role-based access control (RBAC)
• Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers to improve performance
• Oversee the migration of databases across servers or platforms, such as SQL Server to Azure SQL Database
• Set up and manage database monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Agent) for proactive performance tracking and security
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database changes align with overall system architecture and business needs
• Automate database tasks using PowerShell, such as automated backups, maintenance scripts, and performance monitoring
• Regularly review and update database-related documentation, including operational procedures and incident response plans
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and other IT staff
• Respond to database issues during off-hours, including nights and weekends, as required
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience as a database administrator
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, and database performance optimization techniques
• Strong experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) technologies (e.g., clustering, replication)
• Proficiency in database security, including encryption, access control, and auditing
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and automation of database tasks
• Ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with developers, DevOps, and system administrators
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service-oriented mindset
