Binti builds software for state and county government agencies focused on child welfare and social services. The company has helped approve over 100,000 families to foster or adopt and supports 49% of the nation's child welfare system. You will join a mission-driven team of ~90 people backed by Founders Fund, First Round Capital, and Kapor Capital.
As Data Engineer, you will own the data transformation layer powering Binti's agency reporting platform. You'll design and build transformations that convert internal data models into clean analytical tables optimized for customer reporting needs. This includes making deliberate modeling choices around conformed dimensions, grain, naming conventions, and semantics while ensuring data correctness under the company's security and authorization model. You'll establish monitoring and alerting for data freshness and quality.
You will anticipate analytical needs by designing reporting architecture alongside product development, supporting complex patterns including time series, cohorts, aging analysis, compliance windows, and point-in-time snapshots. You'll build reusable components that compose to meet future requirements.
As the first dedicated person in this function, you will own reporting for specific modules end-to-end: ensuring the BI data model expresses complex requirements, building stock and customer-specific reports, enabling customer launch teams, and translating new agency reporting requirements into data strategy solutions.
Sample projects include building scoped embedded analytics with reliable attribution and data isolation, creating upsertable importers for recurring customer data ingestion, developing data mapping tooling to streamline legacy system integration, and building analytics infrastructure for statewide deployments including federal reporting obligations.
Binti operates hybrid from San Francisco (Monday & Thursday in-office) with a satellite Seattle office. The company emphasizes mission-driven, high-empathy, high-performance team members committed to rewiring government to be more effective.
