The Data Foundations team is responsible for building and maintaining the data platform that powers all member care, contract, and claims decisions at Alan. This is a core infrastructure team within Tech Foundations, focused on enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
In this role, you will:
- Build, maintain, and improve the Data Platform used company-wide
- Partner closely with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand data needs and deliver trusted solutions
- Own and manage all data-related tools powering Alan
- Work on AI-related data challenges as agents become first-class users of the data warehouse, addressing security, data quality, and governance concerns
- Support Alan's rapid international expansion by enabling teams to onboard new countries in weeks rather than months
- Improve developer experience for building and maintaining data pipelines
- Enable reliable and secure data warehouse access for engineers and AI agents
- Strengthen security and governance around data assets
- Define and implement standard data practices across the organization
- Maintain and evolve core data infrastructure to support international expansion and growing product breadth
Core tools include Python, Airflow, Snowflake, AWS/GCP, Metabase, Terraform, and dbt. You'll work daily with the broader Data community at Alan as one of the core engineers on a small, high-leverage team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience demonstrating impact in Data positions (early-career to highly experienced profiles welcome)
- Experience building and operating production data infrastructure: orchestration (Airflow or similar), cloud data warehouse, infrastructure as code
- Experience designing systems, tools, or libraries used by other engineers, scientists, or analysts
- Proficient in Python and SQL with high standards of rigor and precision
- Curious about AI and eager to use it thoughtfully to increase impact
- Great listening and communication skills
- Humble, kind, collaborative, and willing to grow
- Fluent and clear English (oral and written); French not required
- Hiring within C0-E level range
