Armada is a hyperscaler for edge AI infrastructure, backed by nearly $500M in funding from investors including Founders Fund, Lux, BlackRock, and Microsoft (M12), with strategic partnerships including Microsoft, Dell, Palantir, NVIDIA, SpaceX, and Skydio. The company builds rugged, deployable compute solutions for sovereign and edge AI applications deployed across 60+ countries.
You will own the structural engineering thread for Armada's Galleon and Leviathan modular data center (MDC) product lines, from early site due diligence through design, certification, fabrication, and installation. This is a newly created capability as the company scales MDC deployments globally across diverse seismic, wind, snow, and soil conditions.
Key responsibilities include:
• Identify, vet, and liaise with domestic and international structural engineering vendors and local certifying engineers on every active project site, ensuring compliance with local building codes (NCC, IBC, Eurocode, etc.).
• Conduct early-stage structural due diligence for new sites: evaluate seismic, wind, snow, and soil conditions; map local code and authority-having-jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements; flag vendor capability gaps or certification risks before they cause late-stage redesigns or deployment delays.
• Develop and maintain template structural designs for MDC components (raised structural platforms, ISO container connections, foundations/pads, anchorage, piping supports) that work across the widest range of site conditions, converting structural design from one-off per-site work into repeatable SKUs.
• Personally perform structural analysis and design for new Armada products and first-of-a-kind site conditions where no vendor solution or precedent exists, establishing the engineering basis in-house before handing off to local certifying engineers for jurisdictional review and stamping.
• Act as the structural point of contact linking Armada's product engineering team with fabricators, general contractors, and local structural/civil engineers worldwide. Review shop drawings, anchoring/embedment details, and equipment integration (generators, transformers, pre-engineered metal buildings, chillers) to ensure what gets built matches what was certified.
• Build and maintain structural requirement guidelines, site-readiness checklists, and certification workflows by geography. Track open structural items across active sites and provide final sign-off confirming MDC and site are certified, safe, and ready for operational handoff.
The role is remote-based with approximately 20–30% travel to project sites, fabrication facilities, and vendor/general contractor locations worldwide.
**Requirements:**
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field); Professional Engineer (PE or SE) license or international equivalent (e.g., Chartered Engineer).
• 5–7 years of hands-on experience with structural analysis and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures, including foundations, platforms, and equipment anchorage, ideally for industrial or mission-critical facilities. Must be able to independently perform structural analysis and design in-house for new products and site conditions, rather than relying solely on outside vendors.
• Working knowledge of structural analysis/design software and building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI). Ability to navigate comparable international structural codes (NCC, Eurocode) across multiple countries, including seismic, wind, snow, and soil load conditions.
• Comfort operating with high degree of autonomy; you will be defining the playbook, not inheriting one.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20–30% to project sites, fabrication facilities, and construction locations worldwide.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
• Prior experience with modular, prefabricated, or ISO-container-based construction methodologies, ideally for data centers or other mission-critical/industrial facilities.
• Exposure to data center–specific structural considerations: heavy equipment anchorage (generators, transformers, chillers), pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), and raised platform/foundation systems.
• Experience vetting, directing, and holding external structural engineering vendors and certifying engineers accountable across concurrent, geographically dispersed projects.
• Experience standing up design standards, templates, or governance processes for a growing team or portfolio, rather than only executing against existing ones.
• Background collaborating directly with product/hardware engineering teams, fabricators, general contractors, and local consultants across multiple regions or countries.
