Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for national security, exploration, and commercial missions. The Space Systems team has enabled over 1,700 missions including work with NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force. As a Cybersecurity Engineer II based in Long Beach, CA, you will design, implement, and maintain security infrastructure for Space Development Agency (SDA) programs. This role requires strong technical security expertise, clearance eligibility, and the ability to protect sensitive defense and space systems. Key responsibilities include: - Design and implement security solutions protecting IT infrastructure (networks, servers, applications) - Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing - Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards aligned with industry regulations - Monitor security systems and respond to incidents with detailed analysis and remediation - Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle - Stay current with emerging security threats and recommend infrastructure improvements Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field - Active Secret security clearance required upon hire - 2+ years of system security engineering experience - 8140 Intermediate or Advanced certification (Security+, Cloud+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent) - Strong knowledge of security frameworks (NIST 800, ISO 27001, CIS Controls) - Proficiency with security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection) - Cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environment security - U.S. citizenship required Desirable qualifications include Master's degree, network/OS/application security expertise, DevSecOps experience, incident response and forensics knowledge, scripting skills (Python, PowerShell), and strong analytical and communication abilities.
