Sakana AI is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to design, build, and operate advanced security systems for AI-powered applications. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Tokyo requiring business-level Japanese proficiency and English communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement security controls including risk assessment, vulnerability management, incident response, and data protection
- Enable secure development and operations through proactive security practices
- Leverage generative AI to improve internal development and operational efficiency
- Manage security aspects across compliance, system hardening, and data protection processes
Required Qualifications:
- Broad understanding of web application development and IT infrastructure
- Hands-on experience implementing security controls in public cloud environments
- Experience with large-scale enterprise system projects
- Business-level Japanese language proficiency (interviews conducted in Japanese)
- Business-level English communication ability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cybersecurity consulting experience
- Project or team management background
- Security risk assessment and vulnerability assessment experience
- Incident response operations experience
- Penetration testing and threat modeling expertise
- Security policy and guideline development experience
- Background in financial services or government sectors
- Security standards implementation and compliance experience (ISO 27001, etc.)
- Knowledge of AI/ML product and service development
