In this Principal role, you will lead CyberCube's point of view on technology risk and serve as a key voice and thought leader on emerging threats and risk trends. You will work alongside cyber threat analysts, economists, data scientists, actuaries, and risk modelers to develop insights, scores, and features for the cyber risk analytics suite. Key responsibilities include: - Owning CyberCube's perspective on technology risk, including offensive and defensive threat actor capabilities, security hygiene standards (NIST CSF, CIS), and technology adoption trends (especially AI governance and reliance). - Translating these factors into modeling assumptions and scenarios that drive risk models, particularly where historical data is limited. - Owning the scenario and "event family" library for cyber catastrophe modeling, including emerging AI-driven scenarios. - Managing the assumptions register and expert-judgment governance, documenting client-defensible rationale for modeling choices. - Presenting CyberCube methodology, threat landscape, and emerging risk trends to clients and prospects at all levels (analyst to C-Suite), differentiating communication by audience. - Collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, product management, analytics, and client-facing teams. - Delivering quarterly cyber threat intelligence reports on threat landscape, scenario libraries, and changes to mitigation and exploitation assumptions. You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced startup environment with flexible working hours and remote-first options. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's or master's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or related field. - 5+ years of experience in offensive and/or defensive cybersecurity (CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or other certification preferred). - Working fluency in Python/R, SQL, flat files, and complex data types (JSON, XML); ability to work with APIs and Excel; sufficient technical depth to specify and interpret analysis with data/analytics teams. - Ability to translate real-world cyber threat behavior into modeling assumptions and scenarios (likelihoods, severity, mitigation impacts). - Intellectual curiosity, willingness to learn new skills, and ability to push ideas forward. - Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Executive-level communication and consulting presence with key stakeholders. - Experience working in and leading project teams. - Ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced startup environment. - Ability to maintain relationships, collaborate effectively, and meet deadlines with a distributed, remote-first workforce. - Ability to think creatively and respond to emerging threats (cyber, AI, other) and their modeling implications in a timely manner. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE: - Analytics and risk modeling experience. - SaaS product development environment experience. - Familiarity with ML techniques and statistical data analysis. - Familiarity with AI/LLM risk and implications for cyber risk, social engineering, product safety, errors/omissions, and critical infrastructure. - Familiarity with Internet technologies (BGP, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).
