Bitpanda is a Vienna-based fintech platform serving 7+ million customers across Europe, offering cryptocurrency, stocks, precious metals and commodities trading. As a Cyber Security Engineer in Security Operations, you'll be a core member of the security team protecting the platform and its users.
Your primary responsibilities include:
**Detection & Threat Hunting**: Develop and tune detection rules in Elastic Security (ES|QL/KQL) to improve coverage, reduce false positives, and identify threats quickly. Perform proactive threat hunting across AWS, Elastic, and Datadog infrastructure.
**Incident Response**: Respond to security alerts, participate in incident investigations, and help improve response processes. You'll work on real security events affecting millions of users.
**Security Automation**: Build scripts, API integrations, and SOAR workflows to reduce manual effort and improve investigation quality. Automate repetitive security operations tasks.
**Cloud Security**: Monitor AWS security events, investigate suspicious activity, contribute to system hardening, and support security tooling improvements across the cloud platform.
**Security Culture**: Work cross-functionally with engineers, support compliance initiatives (ISO 27001, PCI DSS, DORA), and promote security best practices.
**On-Call Rotation**: Participate in weekly rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 security coverage.
You bring 2–4 years of information security, security engineering, or security operations experience with exposure to incident response, SIEM, threat hunting, or cloud security. You're comfortable writing scripts and automating workflows, have solid AWS or cloud platform knowledge, understand networking and system hardening, and ideally have Elastic Security experience. You're curious, proactive, and passionate about security.
