Apex manufactures satellite buses at scale for the commercial aerospace industry, enabling earth observation, communications, and other space-based applications. The Cyber Security Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure enterprise architectures across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments while providing technical leadership in cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and compliance.
Key responsibilities include designing enterprise-wide security architectures aligned with business objectives; developing secure designs for multi-cloud and hybrid environments; performing threat modeling and security architecture reviews; implementing security controls across networks, systems, endpoints, applications, and cloud platforms; leading deployment of SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, EDR/XDR, IAM, and vulnerability management platforms; automating security processes using scripting and infrastructure-as-code; conducting security risk assessments and vulnerability audits; ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53/171/172, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and SOC 2; providing architectural guidance during incidents; mentoring junior security engineers; and serving as a subject matter expert for technical and business stakeholders.
Required qualifications include 7–10+ years in cybersecurity or related IT disciplines, 3–5+ years designing security architectures or leading cybersecurity engineering initiatives, and a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree and certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or cloud security specialties.
Required technical skills span enterprise security architecture, zero trust, threat modeling, network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, segmentation), cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP, containers, Kubernetes), identity and access management (Active Directory, Entra ID, SSO, MFA, PAM), and security operations (SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, threat intelligence).
