GoodLeap is a fintech platform providing financing and software solutions for sustainable home improvements, including solar, batteries, HVAC, heat pumps, roofing, and windows. The company has facilitated over $30 billion in financing since 2018 and serves over 1 million homeowners and thousands of professionals.
The Credit Strategy & Decisioning Manager will own the execution and delivery of GoodLeap's underwriting policy and procedures. This is a hands-on management role that bridges credit strategy, technology, and business operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating credit and underwriting policies into the decision platform, maintaining complete documentation of decisioning flows across API sources, including tracking overrides, exceptions, and fallback logic
- Monitoring policy performance against intent through dashboards tracking approval rates, pull-through rates, override rates, and policy drift; conducting periodic gap assessments to surface undocumented decisioning nuances
- Briefing senior leaders across Capital Markets, Credit Risk, Product, and Engineering on execution status, risks, and open decisions, tailoring messaging for different audiences
- Maintaining full version history and audit trails of policy changes to support back-testing and regulatory review; owning change-approval workflows for launching or rolling back strategy changes
- Designing, delivering, and validating A/B, champion/challenger, and shadow tests on policy changes ahead of production releases; evaluating emerging credit and fraud vendor solutions and supporting pilot integrations
- Prioritizing and sequencing configuration change requests against engineering and product capacity, exercising independent judgment on trade-offs with minimal day-to-day direction
The role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to balance execution speed with compliance and audit-readiness. You will work collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups and thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
Requirements:
- Deep understanding of credit and underwriting policy and how configuration choices translate into borrower outcomes and portfolio risk
- Working knowledge of loan decisioning engines, including how policy rules interact with third-party data sources
- Experience with SQL, Python, Databricks, Tableau, and AI tools (Claude/ChatGPT)
- Skilled at building and maintaining monitoring dashboards and translating performance data into actionable insights
- Strong program and project management skills; ability to prioritize and sequence competing requests
- Ability to design and interpret A/B tests, champion/challenger frameworks, and experimentation methods
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate complex trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
- High integrity, sound judgment, and comfort escalating blind spots to leadership
- Strong organizational skills and comfort owning documentation, version history, and audit trails
- Collaborative approach and ability to engage effectively across Capital Markets, Treasury, Product, Engineering, and Credit Risk teams
