Oklo is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its accounting function and play a key role in managing cost identification, coding, and fixed asset accounting for the company's capital project spend, including plant and inventory workstreams.
The Cost Accountant will partner closely with project controllers, procurement, accounts payable, and other stakeholders to make appropriate GAAP accounting conclusions for spend, including capitalization and GL allocation of plant and fixed asset costs. The role will execute internal controls supporting Oklo's SOX environment, assist internal and external auditors, and deliver accurate monthly and quarterly close schedules. A critical success factor will be the ability to apply accounting policy consistently, investigate variances, and stay organized across a growing asset base.
A second critical aspect of this role involves managing and overseeing the company's fixed assets register. The Cost Accountant will maintain the register, ensure assets are accurately classified and supported, and place them in service on a timely basis. Monthly responsibilities include running depreciation, preparing related journal entries and roll-forwards, and reconciling the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger as part of month-end close.
Key responsibilities include: partnering with project controllers and procurement to review project spend for proper capitalization treatment; maintaining complete supporting documentation for capitalization conclusions, asset records, depreciation, and disposals; supporting internal and external audits with fixed asset schedules and transaction support; managing the capital project lifecycle including additions, transfers, placed-in-service dates, disposals, and retirements; monitoring construction-in-progress balances and coordinating timely transfers; running monthly depreciation and validating system calculations; reconciling fixed asset subledger to general ledger; preparing fixed asset journal entries and roll-forwards; coordinating periodic physical inventories and asset verification procedures; and identifying opportunities to improve and automate fixed asset accounting processes.
