Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Corporate Finance Analyst to join its Corporate Finance team in Devens, MA. The company is a leading fusion energy developer that has raised $4 billion since 2018 and is building commercially viable fusion power plants to accelerate the global energy transition.
In this role, you will work under the Corporate Finance Manager's direction to own assigned analyses, trackers, reconciliations, documentation, and recurring deliverables across multiple finance functions. The position is designed to reduce key-person risk, build disciplined and transferable processes, and develop a broad corporate finance foundation that can support progression into a Treasury Manager or Tax Manager role as the organization grows.
Key responsibilities include:
• Treasury and Financing: Prepare cash, liquidity, investment, and banking analyses; maintain debt, letter-of-credit, financing, and counterparty trackers.
• Banking Operations: Support account administration, KYC, documentation, payment-control evidence, and bank or counterparty follow-up.
• Equity Administration: Support Carta and cap-table data, reconciliations, documentation, and employee or investor requests.
• Investor Support and Compliance: Prepare diligence packages, recurring compliance deliverables, obligation calendars, and supporting records in coordination with Accounting, Legal, FP&A, Investor Relations, and advisors.
• Tax Workstreams: Support year-end provision, R&D credit, energy tax credits, tax calendars and data requests, and ARC/global-tax planning analyses.
• Process and Controls: Document procedures, maintain control evidence, reconcile data, identify gaps, and recommend practical improvements and backup coverage.
• Own assigned outcomes: Plan work, coordinate inputs, meet deadlines, and close the loop rather than waiting for repeated follow-up.
• Communicate proactively with clear status, risk, recommendations, ownership, timing, and specific asks.
• Collaborate across functions: Build productive working relationships without relying on authority; handle sensitive information with sound judgment.
The Corporate Finance Manager remains accountable for strategy, priorities, stakeholder relationships, judgment, approvals, and overall quality. You will be accountable for accurate, timely execution and end-to-end follow-through on assigned workstreams.
Note: This role requires compliance with U.S. export control laws. Occasional nights, weekends, or on-call availability may be required during payroll processing, month-end close, audit, compliance deadlines, system issues, or urgent operational escalations. The facility contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Active CPA (required)
• 5+ years of experience in treasury, accounting, tax, corporate finance, banking operations, audit, or another controlled environment
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Disciplined attention to detail
• Clear communication ability
• Ability to translate data into conclusions, coordinate inputs, manage deadlines, and handle sensitive information with sound judgment
Preferred qualifications:
• Broad curiosity and interest in developing deeper expertise in treasury or tax
• Experience with ERP systems, Carta, treasury or banking platforms, or high-growth company experience
