OpenAI's Corporate Development team sits at the intersection of strategy and the global AI ecosystem. The team partners with engineering, product, and business leaders to analyze markets, technologies, and companies, identifying opportunities that accelerate OpenAI's mission. This role owns high-priority M&A and strategic transaction work from early evaluation through diligence, structuring, negotiation, approval, and close. As a Deal Lead, you will lead end-to-end execution of corporate development transactions including acquisitions and strategic investments. You'll source opportunities by building deep relationships across the venture, startup, and incubator ecosystem. You'll track and interpret key trends across AI, technology, and adjacent industries, translating competitive and startup landscape insights into actionable intelligence for OpenAI's leadership. Key responsibilities include: leading transaction execution from sourcing through closing; proactively sourcing acquisition opportunities; partnering with internal leaders to understand strategic priorities and shape inorganic strategy; collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, GTM, and executive leadership; building financial models and commercial cases; preparing deal materials for senior leaders; innovating how AI enhances Corp Dev processes; and partnering on integration planning and metrics. You'll combine strategic judgment, financial rigor, founder relationship-building, and crisp execution. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role requiring someone who can lead complex transactions, partner effectively with executive stakeholders, and help build AI-native systems and operating practices that allow Corp Dev to scale. The role is based in San Francisco HQ with a hybrid work model of 3 days in office per week. Relocation assistance is offered.
