Salary: USD 160,000 - 212,500 / annual
Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The company is seeking a Corporate Counsel specializing in Dispute Resolution to join its global Corporate Legal team based in New York.
In this hands-on role, you will take ownership of Adyen's disputes end-to-end, advising internal stakeholders on legal risk and guiding matters toward resolution. You will manage disputes across multiple jurisdictions, applying and coordinating advice under New York, Dutch, and other relevant laws as Adyen's global operations require. Key responsibilities include:
• Own and manage disputes from inception through resolution, advising the business on commercial outcomes and pragmatic solutions
• Manage disputes across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating legal advice under various applicable laws
• Instruct, oversee, and manage external counsel to keep matters on strategy, on budget, and moving toward resolution
• Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to resolve disputes and prevent escalation
• Close out risk areas upon matter conclusion and feed lessons learned back into Adyen's contracting and operational practices
• Actively apply AI tools to sharpen and scale dispute resolution operations
• Support the broader Corporate Legal team on corporate governance, corporate development, and cross-functional initiatives
• Stay abreast of global legal developments relevant to Adyen and proactively advise on risk mitigation
This role is part of Adyen's Corporate Legal team, which operates globally with staff in the Netherlands and the United States. You will apply legal knowledge to challenges across Adyen's worldwide operations. The position requires someone who collaborates effectively across functions, excels at decision-making in fast-moving complex environments, and balances legal risk against commercial reality.
Requirements:
• Admitted to practice law in a US jurisdiction
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
• Strong team player with collaborative approach
• Ability to structure and prioritize in high-volume, fast-paced environments
• Ability to build, innovate, and drive processes to completion
• Available to work from New York office with periodic travel to other offices
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
