NexHealth is building the infrastructure layer for modern healthcare, connecting fragmented EHR systems into a unified platform. The company was founded in 2017, is headquartered in San Francisco, has raised $177M in Series C funding, and employs 200+ people.
As Senior Accounting Manager, you will own the complete month-end close process and lead NexHealth's offshore accounting team. Your core responsibilities include:
• Manage the month-end close end-to-end—calendar, owners, dependencies, and sign-offs—driving toward a 4-business-day close cycle.
• Lead and mentor the offshore accounting team: set priorities, review work quality, and hand off close tasks with clear checklists and expectations.
• Ensure GAAP compliance across all financial statements by setting review standards for flux analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Design and implement automation and AI agents for reconciliations, flux commentary, journal entry preparation, anomaly detection, and close tracking.
• Own payroll accounting and operations in Rippling, including international hires through employer-of-record partners, with accurate accruals, reconciliations, and strong controls.
• Partner on equity management in Carta: grant and exercise processing, cap table reconciliation to the general ledger, and stock-based compensation accounting.
• Build financial and operational reporting dashboards in Sigma for leadership decision-making.
• Collaborate with Data Science to build and improve the finance data warehouse in Snowflake, ensuring reconciliations and close checks run on trusted, reconcilable data.
• Lead audit readiness with external auditors: build schedules, maintain workpapers, and close auditor requests on time.
• Surface risks, control gaps, and process issues early; document decisions to enable team and system scaling.
This role is ideal for an accountant with a proven track record running strong closes at scaling companies who wants to modernize accounting operations with AI and automation.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong experience running month-end close at a scaling SaaS, payments, or technology company, with solid knowledge of US GAAP, accruals, and multi-entity accounting.
• Active CPA license.
• Experience leading offshore or distributed accounting teams across time zones, with ability to set clear standards and review work for quality.
• Track record of building automation with LLMs or agentic workflow tools; ability to walk through something you built and its impact.
• Strong grasp of internal controls, data completeness, and audit trail design, with processes that scale as transaction volume and complexity grow.
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouse; you write your own queries.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite, plus payroll (Rippling or similar), spend management (Ramp or similar), BI (Sigma, Looker, or similar), and cap table (Carta or similar) platforms.
• Comfort with technical accounting research: getting to the root of issues and turning conclusions into practical policies and entries.
• Sound judgment with imperfect data: you make the call, keep the close moving, then fix underlying data so the issue doesn't recur.
• Clear communication with Data Science, Engineering, Revenue Operations, and Finance partners; ability to adapt to technical and leadership audiences.
• Drive to rethink corporate accounting with LLMs and agentic workflows, paired with willingness to tackle unglamorous problems that improve business operations.
BONUS:
• Big 4 or other public accounting experience.
• Experience at a fast-growing SaaS business through multiple stages of scale.
• Experience with payroll accounting for international teams through an employer of record.
