Salary: USD 111,000 - 147,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Controls Engineer to join the Automation team at Arsenal-1, an advanced manufacturing facility in Columbus, OH. The Automation team designs and commissions automated equipment for high-rate production of defense systems powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, commissioning, and upgrading control systems for production equipment. You will write and debug Siemens PLC code with emphasis on generating organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable code for high-volume manufacturing applications. You will follow internal standards for control systems architectures, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffs, and integrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines.
Key responsibilities include leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures to ensure rapid resolution and long-term reliability, installing and configuring servo drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs), and partnering with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
- Proficient in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text)
- Proficient in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS
- Strong knowledge of ethernet-based communication protocols (ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP)
- Proficient with electrical component selection and solid foundation in wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets
- Experience integrating with SCADA and OT Networking
- Experience performing Risk Assessments and Controls Safety Design
- Proficient with pneumatic concepts and design
- Familiar with NFPA70e electrical safety practices
- Active U.S. Government SECRET security clearance
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
- Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
- Electrical troubleshooting up to 600VAC
- Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, including Perspective and tag historian configuration
- Active U.S. Government TOP SECRET security clearance
