Salary: USD 123,000 - 171,000 / annual

Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Sustaining Controls Engineer to join the Manufacturing Automation team in Costa Mesa, California. The Manufacturing Automation team is responsible for designing, integrating, deploying, and sustaining automated manufacturing systems across Anduril factories. In this role, you will help define production automation at a national scale and contribute to Anduril's mission of transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. Key responsibilities include: - Debug PLC logic with emphasis on keeping production running, using lessons learned to drive continuous improvement of Anduril's standards - Enforce internal standards for control systems architectures, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffs - Integrate internal and external manufacturing software into automation equipment and production lines - Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures, ensuring rapid resolution and long-term reliability - Design functional HMIs/SCADA screens aligned with Anduril internal branding standards using Ignition by Inductive Automation - Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives - Willingness to work off-shift or irregular hours as needed Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. REQUIREMENTS: - Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities - Must be US security clearance eligible - Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent and relevant experience - 2+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment - Strong proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC programming - 24v, 120v and 480v electrical troubleshooting capability - Ability to read, interpret and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical - Proficient knowledge of ethernet based communication protocols PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Knowledge of machine guarding methods and standards - Knowledge of NFPA70, NFPA70E, NFPA79 and UL508A - TL508A MTR Certification - Proficiency in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS, etc. - Familiarity with electrical design CAD software
