Isar Aerospace is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade the control systems of their rocket engine test facility near Kiruna, Sweden. You will assume technical responsibility for both software and hardware elements of the control system, working closely with the Munich-based control systems team and local Propulsion Test Engineers.
Key responsibilities include developing PLC software for existing and future control systems, designing PLC hardware setups and related networks, performing risk analyses and designing safety-critical electrical systems, commissioning and maintaining/upgrading control systems, and performing rocket engine tests as part of the local test engineering and operations team. You will be involved in day-to-day test operations and develop a deep understanding of facility systems and requirements.
Required qualifications: degree in electrical engineering, automation technology, or equivalent; 2+ years of experience in automation and PLC technology; fluency in English; hands-on experience with PLC programming (soft-PLC) preferably using Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 or CODESYS-based systems; experience in technical support and troubleshooting; knowledge of fieldbus systems; and basic understanding of electrical schematics.
Bonus skills include knowledge of sensors/sensor signals and test equipment, experience designing and building PLC systems to EU and international standards (preferably with Beckhoff controllers), and experience with functional safety system design and implementation.
